R. Kelly - Double Up

C'mon.....C'mon Baby. R. Kelly's image for his CD cover didn't grab me. He doesn't need to showcase the bling that already goes with the gift. No need to prove that at all.(Ya'll remember that as I get into this review...)
Everybody, this CD was a disappointment to me, bottom-line. No holdin' back.
There was of course tracks that grabbed my interest, but not enough for me to keep the CD flowing inside the house, inside the car, inside the headphones, inside the garage....well!
Man, my best memory serves me right that when Mr. Kelly 1st came out with The Public Announcement, He set the R&B new generation on FIRE! No doubt! Yeah....HURRY....GO GET THAT! Let's not bring up the solo debut. In fact, I'm going to put that on right NOW! "Gimme that Honey LOOooooOOOOoooOOOvvvvVVVVVveeEEE!" (Honey Love)
He produced, wrote, arranged almost everything in similar fashion to the Artist Formerly Known As. He even has that aurra like the Prince we all know. Setting aside of course any court & news issues that has attempted to curb his steps down the boardwalk. This CD, in my opinion doesn't necessarily represent his growth in the music. It sounds more like he is following....not leading. And cats & chicas, in this day & age for R&B, He's the Topdawg! Handsdown!
What happened to the slow jams? The slow jams with full meaning (well, ya'll know what I mean) you laced on pratically ALL of your albums? "Sex Patrol" reminded me of your 1st solo release quickly. The problem? What about the rest? In fact, as I continue to go through the CD for review, it keeps sounding more & more like Little Jon's flow! Hip-Hop productions that can easily make me forget about that "Happy People" release, which is one of the baddest CD's he laced!
The diehard fans of Mr. Kelly will step up to the plate & dig it. Unfortunately for me, I'll take a raincheck on it. If he comes back out crooning the slow jams, in fact here's a suggestion: Why don't he just do an all out Baby-Makin' slow jam project & see what happens!
Catch ya'll later...
