Funkee Boy - Rise

Hit songwriter/Producer Bobbi "Funkee Boy" Tammaro has appeared on projects with artists like Brian Culbertson, Terry Dexter, Lamont Dozier, etc. He has also produced artists signed to Babyface, and has co-written/produced with Timmy Gatling (Guy). Funkee Boy has earned 15 top International chart credits and 7-#1 songs on mp3.com, as well as, numerous placements on television & film.

His latest project "Rise",  that has been earning 5 star reviews, displays his skills at songwriting/production and in the forefront as a recording artist.

The number one song "Body Music" has been the most requested song on several stations for 3 months straight. In addition to "Body Music" and three other compositions, Funkee boy pays tribute to the influences in his life, which include Stevie Wonder, Ne-Yo, Kool and the Gang, and Earth, Wind and Fire. With guest vocalists Lamone Andrews, international recording artist Leila, & saxophonist Marty Q, Ty-Mic, Rufus Williams and Amy Crupi.

This electrifying CD is packed with songs that that will make you move and slow your groove.

The slow jazzy torch song "Close The Door" f/ Leila and Lamone, the smoldering song "Feel Like Making Love" f/ Amy Crupi, & "Harbor Lights" f/ Rufus Williams.

Mid-tempo grooves "Spanish Girl", "When You're Mad" f/ Marty Q, "Stick Wit U" f/ Marty Q, "Soul Dance", & "Body Music". The High energy grooves were "I Wish", "Ain't No Stopping Us Now", "Too Hot", "Rise" f/Ty-Mic (remix), & "Brazilian Rhyme".

This project is extraordinary because it has that old school flavor mixed with a smooth-urban jazz setting. It has also spawned Funkee Boy into hosting his own weekly radio show "Positive Grooves" - syndicated on several stations.

Funkee Boy is already busy working on his follow up CD to "Rise", expected to be released by December 2009/January 2010. The CD contains a tribute song titled "On TOP" which Funkee Boy dedicates to "TOWER OF POWER" for being one of the major influences in his musical career. The lyrics from "On Top" are cleverly written and contains many of the Titles to Tower Of Power hit songs!(see below)

ON TOP - written by “Funkee Boy”

Verse 1
Got the Oakland Stroke when I first began
-n- couldn’t wait to start my band
Folks kept sayin’ Time Will Tell
cause you know You’re Still A Young Man
Willing To Learn, So I Got To Groove
Thought I was the shit
A Little Knowledge Is A Dangerous Thing
Cause I still don’t know What’s Hip….but hey
Hook 1

I’ve grown up on TOP
East Bay Grease, Back On The Streets,
Souled Out, and Bump City
Yeah, raised on TOP
Oakland Soul With A Capital S is what’s inside of me…blow those Horns… (Knock my damn self out!)
Verse 2

Well It All Comes Back to the Attitude Dance
So Rock Baby On The One
-n- head on Down To The Nightclub
cause You Ought To Be Havin’ Fun
Ooh Clever Girl I’m By Your Side
And You Know It you’re the Real Deal
I Like Your Style your Sexy Soul
I know This Time Is Real
Hook 2

Cause you grew up on TOP
East Bay Grease, Back On The Streets,
Souled Out, and Bump City….yeah
you’re raised on TOP
you got Oakland Soul With A capital S -n- girl that’s hot to me
Bridge

Once You Get A Taste
You’ll never let go
It’s So Wonderful, So Marvelous
That’s why I sing -n- crave that East Bay Soul
yeah, It’s So Nice
makes it So Very Hard To Go
Repeat Hook 1, Hook 2
We grew up on TOP
East Bay Grease, Back On The Streets,
Souled Out, and Bump City
Yeah, raised on TOP
Oakland Soul With A Capital S
The only way to be....

This guy is off the hook - I first heard a small version of his song Body Music on the Weather Channel - The song sounded so good, that I got up out the bed and just sit there and said "who is the world is this". I first thought it was Jeff Lorber - I searched the internet all day looking for this song. I finally ran across something on U-Tube - everybody was talking about this song. It is absolutely awsome. I found it on the site positivegroovesradio.com and have played it all morning. When I leave home today, I will be purchasing the CD. Make more of this nature, and you will definitely be a winner - keep up the soul, brother, plus - you're fine as wine.
